We often fail and fall & instead of running back to God, we allow shame & guilt to move us further away from God. We beat ourselves up for what we did, however Romans 8:1 reminds us of the righteousness of God & the love he has for us his love makes room for all our mistakes.

Being born again & walking in the spirit is not a linear process and it is not meant to be however, it is meant to pull out the you that you created for the version that God is calling. It is meant to teach you to lean on God & to rest in His glory. When we no longer have the hands to hold on to everything, it is time to hand things back to God and trust that his way is better. Hiding feels safe & guilts warps us.

The grace and mercy of God locates us when we give it all to all to God; when we confess and meditate on Proverbs 28:13, Romans 8:1.

The book of Jonah
This month we focus on the book of Jonah and focus on who God is, what happens when we ignore our assignment, why we should not judge and lean on our own understanding. Each week, we will look at a chapter and be inspired, reminded and even taught through the life of Jonah.

Chapter 1:
The chapter starts out with God giving Jonah an instruction, an assignment but Jonah, like most of us, decides to run. His running lands him in the middle of a storm. This teaches us that when living in disobedience, we will often be met with a storm. This did not only impact his peace but of those he was travelling with. Mostly strangers he had just met.

This highlights the importance of discernment in who we allow into our lives. Some people are storm comers not because they are bad people but often because, they are not aligned to the will of God for your life. Or they are just not going in the same direction as the assignment you called to fulfil.

Once Jonah was identified as the problem and was thrown off the boat, the storm settled. This teaches us that some storms will settle when we return to God and some will settle when we get some people out of our lives. How often are we afraid to leave situations because we are not sure of where we would end. We’re shown here that God prepared a place for Jonah in spite of his disobedience. This requires discernment because you could be the Jonah in someone’s story. It is important to seek God first before you start looking outside of the problem. Especially when you notice that you are the problem.
