We often dismiss that feeling the shows up like jealousy or envy because as children of God we know better and think that we are exempt from somethings. The truth is depending on where we are in your walk with God, we can sometimes have feelings of envy or jealousy. The problem is that we often neglect those feelings instead of looking at it as an invitation to investigate further.

This feeling lets you know that you are most likely walking in the flesh and not the spirit, but it can also point to areas of unfulfilled potential. This is not a time to shame or guilt yourself but rather to run to God, declare it as a sin and repent. Repentance does not take away the feeling but you casting it to God lets God know that you struggling and need help in that area.

Matthew 6:22 tells us to seek first the kingdom of God on all things and to along our footsteps accordingly.

Therefore, take these feelings as an invitation that this is a desire, something you could work to improve in your life. Feelings and thoughts such as, I want a car, but my friend just got one are invitations. It is pointing out your desire for a car, but you probably need to change some habit/s in your life. Do not allow sin to rob you of God’s goodness. Take these feelings as an invitation to look at your life and see where you can do better. It is important though to take these feelings and confess them to God so that He can help you work through your heart and show you what you need in this season. Maybe in this season, you need to work on your heart posture and learn how to celebrate others. Or maybe you need to learn to steward your resources correctly. But first, start by seeking God about that feeling and align your behavior according to the truth of God’s word.

For example, when you see someone looking good and you start nitpicking instead of celebrating or drawing inspiration; that is an invitation to start prioritizing your wellbeing. Maybe your cup is running on empty and you need to spend time in the presence of God, walking more or eating better. Take these feelings as an invitation for God to move in you.
